Thanks again to schaifate for the scans. We've seen some of the pictures before (photographer Brian Bowen Smith's work, featured in last year's Gotham magazine) but there appears to be at least one new one. Translations would be appreciated when anyone gets a chance. In the meantime, enjoy the eyelashes! ETA: Here's the translation from buzzelfrau. Many thanks! QUOTE The first impression is unforgettable. We first met a few years ago in Hollywood when the unknown Brit received me for an interview in Chateau Marmont. Orlando smelled of Calvin Klein’s “Obsession”. Luscious hair rounded his edged facial features, remembrances who became jewel dangled on leather strings on his chest and the boy with the blooming name admired my fake watch which could have been confused with a Prada original. “My grandfather was obsessed with watches. I got it from him.” Meanwhile he smells like dog. Sidi’s always with him, a big Labrador crossbreed, adopted by Bloom during the shooting of “Kingdom of Heaven”. He could no longer watch this animal eating camel shit out of a cardbox. The ethno-jewelry made way for a soft cashmere scarf he wears in Eurotrash-mode (forming a loop, putting the ends through) – some American style experts would condemn this. As a participant in two of the most successful trilogies of all times (LOTR, POTC) he no longer has to repeat his “Best Of Bio”.
After hundreds of Interviews at least the feminine part of the population knows that Orlando: • Is named “Orlando Jonathan Blanchard Bloom” after Orlando Gibbons, a composer from the 17th century • At the age of 13 found out that his biological father was a good friend of the family and NOT Harry Bloom – Anti-Apartheid-activist and writer who died when Orlando was four. • At the age of 16 attended “Guildhall School of Music and Drama” for 3 years. The school where Ewan McGregor and Ralph Fiennes already went to. • Broke his back when he was 17 after falling down three floors. • Suffers from pains in the back since then but nevertheless is surfing, snowboarding and bungee jumping
Between 17 and 30 boys normally grow up to men. In this time Bloom played elve, pirate and knight [put in the way like kids pretend to be someone but also with the normal meaning – I find it quite funny] became an international heart throb and earned millions of dollars. Since last summer, since the official end of the Pirates trilogy the 31-year-old seems to be on a kind of search for sense / meaning. He only did a little theatre in London’s West End, went to Antarctica in the matter of environmental protection, painted his house in the Hollywood Hills anthracite, visited children in Great Ormond Street Hospital and travelled to Nepal for UNICEF and Africa to visit people suffering from AIDS. In the meantime you could see him having lunch with Hollywood stars in Chateau Marmont or as a presenter for the BAFTA award in London. Fortunately he also made some really fabulously corny commercial spots for a Japanese Hair product – otherwise the Orlando-thirsty fan clubs would have been dried out. What a relief for his millions of fans that he has just signed a contract for Nick Hornby’s screen adaption of “An Education”. Orlando Bloom will play there for the first time a relatively contemporary grown-up. A man without a sword who muddles teenage girl’s thoughts.
Very early you achieved very much. Is there still a meaning in something like the 30th birthday? Of course. I was happy. As a twen you have to take yourself serious to be taken serious by others. From the age of 30 the number does that for you. It’s a real relief.
Why? What other men are worried about at this age – career, money, success – you already tallied / hade done. But because of that my ripening process is nowhere near to be completed. When your’re very young you think: I want that! A house, a car, clothes. You think that things make you happy. Until you realize how short this happiness is and that you can’t take it with you when it’s time to leave.
You are not that old! It’s never too early to think about death. I think the most formative moment in my life was when I saw my grandfather laid out when I was 16. I was standing by the door, saw his coffin and outside there was life. And abruptly I was aware how much both is connected. You can’t just live like there is no end.
You seem to live a good live. It’s good that I probably won’t have to worry about money. But that’s not everything.
All millionaires say that. And it’s true. I have a great family, great friends and a cool dog. I can afford a house. Despite all that I missed real life. I spent so much time in the surreal world of movies that sometimes I just wanted to chill at home, listen to music, meet some friends. Or just being on my own. I like that.
What are you doing when you’re on your own? I love road trips. Some years ago I went from Nebraska to Los Angeles in the car. Only my dog and me. It was great. I felt like a pioneer surrounded by all these massive landscapes. Without a phone or cameras.
Not even a small camera for travel pictures? I have kind of a log (book). Taking pictures hinders you from really looking.
Is that the Buddhist in you talking? Buddhist, okay. When I was 18 I started being interested in Buddhism. But It’s only a few years now that I started concentrating on the philosophy behind it. There are so many mistaken ideas about belief. I have never been extremely religious. It actually is about living a happy life.
Buddha Bloom makes women happy. Courtney Love even says that because of him showing her Buddhism she has stayed clean. Emma Watson confesses that the only fellow-countryman she would want to have rumoured to have an affair with is him. In England they call him Canterbury Casanova. Canterbury because this is his home. Casanova – well… It is not a fact that Orlando swanks with his conquests [not sure if this expression exists in English as well]. He denied his relationship to Kate Bosworth until they broke up. Instead of applauding for his new sweetheart Miranda Kerr from first row of Victoria Secret’s Fashion Show he disappeared after the Preshow Party. Miranda about her boyfriend: “He is a sweetheart.”
Sweetheart, women of all ages yearn for you. What does it feel like? Well, per se it is very flattering. But actually it is confusing when loads of women wait outside my hotel. You have to learn to cope with that.
What do these women do outside the hotel? Mostly screaming my name. For hours.
Did you lose your respect? No, listen, it’s not always like that. Only if people know where I am I have to be prepared for that kind of reaction. It was a process of learning. All of a sudden I needed people who take care that I can live on in peace.
Does it become boring if everybody wants you? No. I am not followed at every turn. At least I think. But the fans screaming on the pavement are not yearning for Orlando Bloom. They don’t know me. They yearn for a role a played like Legolas or Will Turner.
You wear clothes more fearless than your American colleagues. Is that the influence of women in your live during the style-forming phase? My mother and my sister are the most influencing women in my live. But style-forming? I think it’s more the culture of your surrounding. When I studied acing I hade a side job at Paul Smith’ shop in London. A great shop. I got everything for discount and am still a customer. I love his suits and shirts. Paul Smith is just good British style. The difference is in the details.
Do you consider yourself metrosexual? What does that even mean? I don’t think about that.
Is that your style or your philosophy of life? Both. Wear things you feel comfortable in. Be a bit eccentric if you feel like it.

I dont know a lick of German BUT I do know that UBER on the cover means Awesome, Super or extreme. That just about sums it up. Although the words, Man Kann Nicht, sure do look a lot like Dirty!Man!Knight! to me. Many thanks to our German enablers for this tantalizing new photo. JessiBear

Coming in here this morning I found this thread. Wow, another German magazine with Orlando on the cover and a rather nice article as well. And no, I don't know about any new movie you won't already know, Jan . JessiBear, über in this case has a different meaning: about. Unfortunately I do not have the time to translate the whole article but as a "starter" here are the headlines of the pages: Cover Orlando Bloom – Hollywood's best talking about Buddha, Brit-Style and his life as a millionaire. Features Cover hero: Orlando Bloom He is the most wanted star of Hollywood. His secret of success: An enormous amount of talent and the Brit-look Next page: "They are calling my name. For hours." Yes, he talks about women. Since LOTR Orlando Bloom is one of the most wanted men in Hollywood. Part of the reason for this fact is his style. His secret: He is bying his clothes at a place where he formly jobbed. Below the photo Orlando Bloom has got two nicknames: OLB and Or.. . Bloom hates the name Or.. . BTW: as a little boy Bloom was dyslexic. Next page: "You cannot live in a way as if there was no end to it." Final page: "I enjoy very much to be on my own/alone" I'm sure one of the other German girls will be able to translate the whole thing still today. Raven PS: is there a secret tool to convert this other nickname to Orlando? I was quite surprised and edited to Or.. )

Thank you Lauren for this beauty.
