Guidelines for Posting Pictures

Recommended Posts

The original intent of this forum was to post new pictures (or "new" old pictures as they came out) of Orlando, with occasional forays into photo essays, etc.

I appreciate the efforts to 'rebuild' the Forum after our disastrous loss of the Orlando. Period. Forum. However, the PEFIC have spent some time the past couple of days deleting and merging threads that people have started for, frankly, silly reasons. And some have appeared because, in their enthusiasm to start a new thread, the poster hasn't bothered to check out what has already been done. So please keep these things in mind before you start a new thread.

A good time for reminders about posting pictures in general:

  • Keep all pics under 550 pixels wide for those who still plod along with a 800x600 screen resolution. If you don't have a way of adjusting the picture size, please post it as a link.
  • No paparazzi pictures; if the PEFIC determine they are obviously taken without Orlando's knowledge or consent, they will be removed and the poster warned. Fan photos are OK (if you are the photographer or otherwise have the permission of the photographer), just not those taken to sell for profit to tabloids - making a buck off of Orlando.
  • No photos that are obvious manipulations (i.e., boytouching that didn't take place - jeez, there are plenty of the real thing!); we do allow them in our Fan Art section, but they need to stay G rated.
  • NO HOTLINKING. That means that unless it is from your own private stash and webspace (Photobucket, etc.) or from the ka-Bloom Gallerie, you can't post it. Hotlinking is directly linking to a photo from webspace THAT YOU DO NOT CONTROL. It's rude, and it costs the owner of the webspace bandwidth. Bandwidth = $$ (or ££, or €€, as the case may be)
  • NO STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHS. These are photos that are obviously posed for and not at public events. If you find the picture in a magazine, however, it is fine to post the scan. There are some exceptions to this; but before you post, please ASK. There is a thread in the Members Only area where you can run them by the PEFIC to see if they are postable.
  • No "body parts" photos. What we mean by this are the pictures wherein the poster wishes to highlight a part of his body - and cut off his head in the process. Treating him like a side of beef, in other words. To highlight his hands, his feet, his jewelry - not a problem. But we've had several instances where someone has taken a photo of Orlando and in order to highlight or 'zoom' in on a particular feature between his neck and his ankles, they cut off his head in the process.

:bump: As a reminder to everyone, please read the first post for our picture posting guidelines.

Jan's rule of thumb:

If it's not in the Gallerie, check with a moderator before posting.

The Gallerie has 28531 files in 395 albums. It's possible that you have something legitimate that is missing (some pictures were lost a few years ago), and if you do we would be happy to add it in for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks. We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.
