Now instead of 'hot Dwarf' alerts there will be 'hot Elf' alerts!

Like my signature says, 'The Elf, first, last and always.' I hope he'll be there shooting scenes for a long time! Can't wait to see full on 'warrior Elf' mode again.

Thanks, Aliza! I can go to bed happy now.

YES! :yahoo: This is the other news I have been waiting for and like the rest of you, I can't wait to see Orlando as Legolas again and I am also hoping, praying and keeping my fingers and everything crossed that there will be on set pictures of my Elven Prince very soon!

:leg: Bring on those Elf Alerts! :leg:

Thank you so much Aliza for this most exciting news!

TERRIFIC! Thank you, Sir Peter, for taking the time keeping us biting our nails :nails: .

One of the dwarves looks a bit like Obelix, Kili is probably the hottest dwarf ever (I don't mind!), Thorin is cool. All are looking amazing and the dress of Cate is marvellous! :judges:

That was fantabulous! It is like coming home again, just like JRD said. How cool to see all those dwarves together not to mention, Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel! Loved, how they brought John Rhys Davies in to visit the dwarves and to hug his "Dad". Cate's costume is stunning. I can't wait to see her on screen in that gown and train. The comments everyone made were great. A 'Dwarf Boy Band'. I love it. And I have to say with all the negativity that was going around about the look of some of the dwarves, I think viewing this video will put all that to rest, or at least it should. They look amazing. And I agree with Peter, in a visual context you have to be able to tell them apart and recognize them.

They look like they are having so much fun. And what about Sir Ian knowing the names of all 13 dwarves? As it should be. If this is what we can expect in the future I cannot wait to see the clips on the Mirkwood Elves and you know who!

Loved seeing Christopher Lee at the end. Great touch. Loved the comments on facebook as well.

THANK YOU, ALIZA!

Yowser! I can see that our trust in Peter Jackson is justified. They all look like they're having a blast. I think the dwarves look more believable in action than they did in those official stills. And how cute are their scale doubles in that panoramic joint photo? Didn't the green screen windows behind Sir Christopher Lee look like Bag End's windows? Or maybe Rivendell's? Again, more questions. How wild will Comic Con 2012 be?! Galadriel's dress would be worth copying for the event!

Video Production Blog #4, sometime after the break, might contain some more Elf-goodness since Legolas should be reporting for duty soon.

I loved this whole video, but Saruman showing up at the end just made me laugh and clap with delight.

Thanks so much for sharing the link, Aliza.

I'm really glad PJ went this way to give each Dwarf an individual identity. The colored hoods were fine for a children's story, but Middle Earth grew into so much more as Tolkien developed it, by the time he wrote LOTR it was a story for grown-ups and this take on the dwarves is so much more in keeping with that tone.

My excitement is really building here. :cheer2:

The new group picture of all the Dwarfs is absolutely fabulous! :2thumbs:

After seeing this picture I can't help but think about the Elves, will there be a group picture of them once they are all together? For example, Legolas, Elrond and Thranduil in one picture, that would be breathtaking. :faint:

I also love the teaser poster and I agree it does remind me of Frodo going into the tunnel leading to Shelob's cave. :cheer2:

Thank you so much Jill for all the updates and for the pictures.

So much hobbity goodness, I can't stand it.

Thanks Jill for the teaser poster. My first thought on seeing it was "isn't that Frodo?" Because it's backlit, you can't see Bilbo's face. It sure is surreal.

So happy.

Love the group shot with Thorin right out in front. But I just went back to look at the production video again and I'm so freaking stoked about this movie! And there is going to be singing! Oh I do hope there's Elf song as well.

But what is so unbelievably cool about the whole thing is that Peter understands us fans. He knows what this means to us and he wants to make us a part of it. He is my movie making hero!

I've been reading The Hobbit just to get back in the story, and now after seeing Peter's wonderful video I have a confession. I think I'm in love with Bombur. I know, Kili is hot and Thorin is fierce, but Bombur speaks to me. :lmao2:

I agree with Krissy, The Hobbit has to be filmed as more than a story for children. It's become much more, and the characters have to have more depth to them. I know Peter Jackson can do this, and do it while being faithful to the book.

GO PETER!

Peter Jackson made a surprise appearance at ComicCon this morning - to promote Tin-Tin. There was a nerdgasm. Did you feel the earth move this morning?!

Six thousand people packed into Comic-Con’s Hall H broke out in a simultaneous nerdgasm as Peter Jackson made a surprise appearance alongside Steven Spielberg at this morning’s panel for Dec. 23′s The Adventures of Tintin.

Jackson, who has been in production on his long-awaited fantasy epic The Hobbit, had said in recent days that he would not be attending the convention. Spielberg, making his own first-ever appearance at Comic-Con, was greeted with a raucous standing ovation as the panel began. Spielberg introduced what was supposed to be an animation test of the CGI dog in Tintin and was instead a clip of Jackson, wearing a sailor’s cap and holding a bottle of booze, purportedly doing his own screen test for the role of “Captain Haddock.” Then Jackson himself took the stage. “Working with Steven has been amazing,” Jackson said. “I think he shows real promise. If he decides to stick with filmmaking, I think he could really go places.”

I haven't found any Hobbit-related questions snuck into their Q&A. I'm tempted to make my room reservations for next year's Comic-Con NOW. Where's that 'wishful thinking' smilie?

Saw a trailer for Tin-Tin at the Deathly Hallows Part 2: It looks good! PJ seems to be back in fine form and I am looking forward to all three films.

Thank heaven there is at least one sexy dwarf, although they are all cute in their own way.

Anyone else notice PJ seems to have returned to his former self.wearing shorts and buttons straining on this shirt? Who was that skinny imposter in long pants?

Thanks, Jill, for keeping us up-to-date with all this delish news.

Found a tidbit from the ComicCon Q&A:
Peter Jackson says he's nearly a quarter of the way through his long, long shoot for his two-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit."Jackson told an audience at the Comic-Con fan convention Friday that he just finished the first 60 days of production and is on break before resuming for 200 more days of shooting.

"So almost there," Jackson joked during a panel alongside Steven Spielberg, where they previewed footage of their action tale "The Adventures of Tintin." Spielberg is directing "Tintin," Jackson producing.

Jackson said he's enjoying "The Hobbit" far more than he thought he would after directing a similar long shoot on Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

Actually, we did have a small, 3.9 earthquake due east of San Diego very early this morning around 2am!

I'm tempted to make my room reservations for next year's Comic-Con NOW.

Wanna share a room? I'm right there beside you Jill.

That isn't unheard of, in these days of massive hype. Some conventioneers do make their reservations for the following year before they leave. Just to tease you further, next year's Comic-Con is scheduled for July 12-15, 2012. Memberships (tickets) will go on sale sometime in the Fall.
