The Cross

This is good news indeed! :cheer2:

Orlando is steadily developing a body of work in many different genres and what else do good directors want than versatile actors! The film that we see in the cinema is only the tip of the iceberg of the work that has gone into it so it's only natural that actors have many productions going on simultaneously in the background, some of them result in finished films, some don't.

Although sci-fi is not my favourite genre, I'm more than willing to change my views on it and will definitely go see this one in the cinema. The concept is so intriguing and besides I'm dying to see Orlando on the big screen again.

Yeah! Another movie :cheer2: Thanks for the info, Jan and Ryll! It sounds like it could be a good role for Orlando. And it looks as if he is almost going straight from SGD to The Cross. I just hope he ditches the wig on the way. :teehee: (Nothing against the Stain's look, I just miss his real hair).

As to the next Con may I propose "Crossing the StainCon"? :pulp:

Raven

Good one Raven! :muahaha:

Yikes, Vincent Cassel was the scary Russian mob head's son in Eastern Promises. If he plays the border guardian, well, eeeps! Creepy dude.

This sci-fi movie sounds so intriguing. It doesn't display a big budget which also sounds promising… all about the characters and not the special effects, eh? Heavy on intense, thoughtful close-ups and… eeeps again.

Looks like we are finally being rewarded for waiting patiently, erm, all righ, impatiently for Orlando to return to the big screen. :cheer2:

I admire actors who take on different roles. There are some out there who do the same thing over and over (and who shall remain nameless. :zip: ), but not Orlando.

I look forward to the upcoming developments. It's all very exciting!

Thanks, Ryll and Jan!

As to this project, I am thrilled. I love sci-fi, Gattaca is one of my favorite movies in the genre, I LOVED Vincent Cassel in Eastern Promises - I seriously thought he deserved awards notice - and certainly enjoyed Olga Kurylenko in Quantum of Solace. :yahoo:

Yes! I so agree. The dynamics with Cassel, especially, should be terrific. I love the way Orlando is mixing the genres. He was always selective about his projects, and I'm so looking forward to this one.

Boy, do I agree with you, Geri. Of course he is working on projects behind the scenes. He is a professional, and this is his passion and his career. I cannot imagine how complicated it must be to pull together these complex, international projects in the best of times, much less in the economic climate of today.

Patty and here I thought he was just sitting around eating blueberriesbonbons all these months! :teehee:

My Mom always said, "Good things come to those who wait"! And with the exception of a few of us (not naming names here  ) we have all been patient and faithful fans. Did we ever doubt the versatility of our #1 Man. He'll blow them all away. Thanks for the confirmation Ryll, Jules and Jan. Jan I say a big YES to a new thread. :yahoo:

Count me as faithful (erm, well, regarding obsession) but not patient. :iheart:

But I agree; how weird it is to see certain news sites acting like, "Gee, Orlando Bloom still has fans?"

Gee, yeah, some folks follow worthy souls who contribute to the grand scheme of things AND happen to be handsome actors. All the better, eh?

Whoops, did I just sail across the dreaded line? :timeout:

I'll just echo the excitement of everyone else. I didn't doubt that there'd be new projects for him, but it's been hard to wait! Now we have so much to look forward to.

I'm proud of all the good he's been doing, helping others, during this time. He's certainly isn't one to just sit back and do nothing!

Science fiction sounds interesting. I, too, like the different genres he seems to be focusing on.

I'm so looking forward to Orlando being in Oz for the filming in July. There should be some good 'on set' pics. coming out of Sydney. Actually, one of our daughters lives there, and July might be a good time to pop down for a little visit. Good idea, that!

I think its unfortunate that someone feels the need to begin creating artwork like this so early, before the film and it's backers have even had time to do their OWN branding of their product. It puts a false visual impression out there for the target audience.

As Elena said, that's a fan interpretation of a poster. Nothing has been officially released yet, and it will be some time before it is.

If you look at the site given by mayfrayn (where this "not-really-a-poster" was found), you could see that they are involved with the production:

Structured as an Australia-France-Germany co-production, "Cross" is being produced by Bluewater Pics in Sydney, Paris' Spangherabero Films and Berlin's Opal Film Produktion.

I couldn't find a site for Spangherabero Films and Bluewater Pics, so there is only a positive from Opal, but there is this article from Variety (Feb. 4, 2009, by John Hopewell and Elsa Keslassy) with the same info.

So I hope it is more than just a fan interpretation.
