This is really great news. :)

After Orlando, Jackie Chan is my second favourite film star comic genius that he is! Thought this film sounds like its going to have a lot more to it.

I never did care for Nick Hornby.

The more I hear about this, the more excited I get! :cheer2: Maybe I'm just extremely happy to have another film to look forward to, but I trust his judgement. I'm sure he's thought about what he's doing and is choosing what's best for him.

Stache or no, I-CAN'T-WAIT! :w00t: Now I'm off to visit Netflix and see if I can check out the original version.

Thanks for the info. ladies.

I'm actually quite excited to hear this project is a go. I like the Japanese directors and and am anxious to see what Johhny To can bring out of Orlando. I think it will be fun to see him in a thriller and the chance to see him do some more action and speak French.rawr!

We know Orlando chooses his roles for a variety of reasons including working with directors he has a great respect for and is drawn to the role for how it can stretch him as the "actor he is becoming".

I would've enjoyed seeing him in a star-studded British film, but hey, there's still opportunities for that later, yeah?

Thanks Jan and Lori for passing along and posting this info. I saw on IMDB that there's now nothing indicated in the upcoming projects section of Orlando's profile.

This article says what studio is producing it.

He's also planning a possibly English-language remake of the 1970 French crime thriller "The Red Circle" with Paris-based StudioCanal.

All three projects are still being developed, Ding said, adding that "The Red Circle" was partly affected by the strike by the Writers Guild of America. The Hollywood writers walked off the job Nov. 5 over their share of potential profits from programming on the Internet and other new media.

"All the better script writers are linked to the Writers Guild of America," he said.

I'm glad Orlando is doing this project because I think he will enjoy it. It involves learning new physical skills, and he always seems so enthusiastic about that sort of thing.

I hope he doesn't bust up too many body parts, though.

Thank goodness he's back to making movies. I'm glad he was able to take a break, but if I'm being honest, I'm a selfish creature. How I've missed him so.

And somehow, I don't really see him as the naked ex-girlfriend who's taken up with someone else while he was in prison.

:lmao2:

I must remember not to sputter with laughter so loudly while at work! Now I shall slowly back away from saying anything else. Actually, I am running away.

Thanks for the continued (and confirmed) updates.

In the meantime, could he not read a section of the telephone book? I suggest the Cardiff bits. Has some great names in it. :lmao2: I am simply suffering withdrawal symptoms and need something to keep me going :tease: quickly, give some UNO to watch. :shout: That's better!

You're not wrong Spanky, but I was thinking more in terms of walking over broken glass to get there. It's going to be a long wait. Thank you LoriV and Mayfrayn for keeping us informed.

I am getting kind of anxious about the Red Circle, I hope we hear more news about this soon, like who else is going to be in this with Orlando. I keep checking for updates about the cast but there hasn't been any. I am also anxious to see him in this, it has been a long time since we seen him on the big screen! :w00t:

I am really thrilled to see him in the process of making a film again. Hearing him in all his commentaries for all the films he has done, it seems he really does thrive on the entire journey from start to finish that comes with film making. Pre-production, through filming, post production, then the inevitable press junket, screaming fans.. :innocent: the promotion and all that comes with it. I know he is always tired when it is over, but for Orlando, somehow, I think it is the journey and the process that makes it worth while for him. Of course there is all the new people to meet and get to know, like any new job. And old friends to reunite with. I think he is embarking on another enjoyable experience.

I for myself also enjoy watching the process unfold, from inception to buying the DVD the moment it hits the stores and waiting patiently as it is capped, and the dozens of brilliant siggies we get to sport and all the lovely artwork that will be about, the themed skins as and the countdown buttons, the posters and hopefully CEOKs from the front-lines of those brave enough to endure a premiere, the magazine articles and official production photos that we squee and giggle over for days on end. OHH! and the trailer! The long long wait for the trailer. there is so much to look forward too, it is hard to sit still.

As much as Orlando's chose profession as seem to become his life's blood, I do believe we as a board relish these hectic, yet fun times. I really can't wait to watch each and every moment unfold for him, and us

FAN GIRL SQUEEEE! :cheer2:

Beautifully put, Twinks, all of what you said. I agree whole-heartedly. For Orlando is seems to be about the process and the experience and getting into a new character, giving it his all. It certainly doesn't seem to be about box office figures and budgets, that's for sure.

I can't wait. :sigh:

I just received this from my Google alert. I know CinemaBlend is not the most reliable source but the news originated from AppleDaily.

Orlando Bloom Teams Up With Chow Yun Fat

By Josh Tyler: 2008-04-15 16:20:28

Orlando Bloom’s next project may be a team up heist film, with Liam Neeson and legendary Chinese action star Chow Yun Fat. The movie is called The Red Circle, and it’s being directed by well known Chinese filmmaker Johnny To.

According to the Chinese language news site AppleDaily, the movie is a remake of a 1970 French film of the same name. In it, the three actors will play robbers knocking over jewelry stores and casinos. It’s sort of a buddy movie, with the three criminals forming a friendship as they race to escape InterPol, hot on their trail.

It sounds like all three leadings actors, Bloom, Neeson, and Chow Yun Fat are all locked in. Johnny To is still looking for a female lead, but characterizes the role as less important, and is reportedly looking for an unknown to fill the part. They start shooting in June, with outdoor scenes to take place in Macau and another third of the film in Hong Kong.
