HeySailor
Variety has a business article about revenue predictions for various European distributors and film productions companies. I need to try out my logic on anyone who'll listen. Please bear with me while I try out my logic with the dates and fiscal quarters:Luc Besson's EuropaCorp reported consolidated revenues of XXX for the first nine months of the 2007/2008 financial year ending Dec. 31 and is predicting strong revenue growth for the fourth quarter. The company, one of Europe's largest independent film distributors and producers, reported strong growth in theatrical distribution in Gaul in the third quarter thanks to the release of XXXXIf I'm reading that correctly, the first 9 months of their fiscal year ended on Dec. 31 2007. The 4th Quarter would run from Jan. 1 through March 31. And Gaul is France.Fourth-quarter DVD releases will include box office successes "Love and Other Disasters," "The Dinner Guest," "Arthur and the Invisibles," "Taxi 4," and "Tell No One."Am I correct in concluding that the DVD will be released in France before March 31st, if it hasn't already? Would EuropaCorp also be releasing it across the EU? Does anyone navigate the non-English language amazon.coms well enough to know if this DVD is available for purchase in Region 2? ETA: Yup, it's available at amazon.fr for 19.99 Euros. The Title is "Love et ses petit desastres" but the language on the DVD is English with French subtitles. My French is non-existant but I think it came out February (fevrier?) 6th.
Serenity
Ooh! HS, you rock! 19.99 Euros. That's $30.81 U.S. The question for me will be, if you order it from amazon's European branch, will it be compatible with the DVD players they sell in the U.S.? HeySailor
The question for me will be, if you order it from amazon's European branch, will it be compatible with the DVD players they sell in the U.S.? A Region 2 disc from Europe would most likely not be playable in the US where the players are set up for Region 1. There's an old thread somewhere around here that discusses region-free DVD players. Believe it or not, region-free players are commonplace in other parts of the world, but next to impossible to find in the US. PM me if you need to know more. I'm a big fan of Aussie fare (Region 4) and have dealt with other regions for several years now.

jennifer
Thanks for the heads up HS. I have already pre-ordered my copy and I can't wait to receive it in the mail. It is such a great movie and Sam is a very talented actress. I guess it runs in the family.
sagebutterspanky
Well, I watched L&OD. Not a bad little movie but definitely worth renting, not buying. Thing is I didn't really pay attention to Orlando's role. I wanted my experience to be fresh, so I was like "He's Hollywood Paolo, huh, what the hell does that mean?" I honestly thought that was his name…HA! There I was watching Paolo (ahh, Santiago is a definite eye-pleaser) and then I finally understood the scenario. Orlando is on screen for less than a minute. One helluva lovely minute, and quite funny given the context. Still, it is a sweet movie and a painless way to pass 90 minutes while sipping wine and eating pizza for dinner. And yes, Sam Bloom is quite clever in her role. I wanted her to throw the iron… when you see it you will know what I mean. End of review. I wanted her to throw the iron… when you see it you will know what I mean. I was in the video store yesterday and just happened to see this. I didn't know it was out and I wasn't expecting it. I rented it and watched it last night and I agree with Spanky, it's better to rent than buy. Cute movie but in my opinion, not enough of Orlando to justify buying. Spanky, I know what you mean about the iron! I did enjoy the movie and loved it when the big guy (forget his name - movie mogul) came up with who should play Jacks and Paolo. cinemapersians
Will you ladies please spoiling a movie I haven't seen yet? I think I'll rent it and then consider whether I'll buy it or not. I know Orlando's role is very short, I have that part on video, but still. A minute of Orlando is a minute of Orlando. - Pam -
