Thanks so much for Serenity for the heads-up on this.

Gorgeous & Green, Global Green USA's Third Annual San Francisco Party will benefit their efforts to rebuild a sustainable New Orleans and advance green affordable housing, solar and high performance schools in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and cities across the country. The event will be held on Tuesday, December 18th at The Bently Reserve. It will feature a live Eco-Auction, Eco-Chic fashion show, EcoFabulous product showcase, Patron Dinner with green table designs, organic cocktail party, and organic spa treatments.

Orlando is on the Host Committee and Celebrity Supporters list. There is no confirmation of whether he will be at the event or not, but the benefit is still worth mentioning.

Thanks for the info. I'm all farklempt. He might be in my very neck of the woods. :shout::faint:

Hey, all you Bay Areans, even if we (I) can't afford to attend the dinner, we could stand outside by the red carpet. Anybody game?

Thank you Serenity and Faye for the heads up! I am not surprised he is on the Host Committee and Celebrity Supporters list, I also noticed Sebastian's name as well. I hope they both have the chance to attend this. I also hope a lot of money and awareness is raised for this most important cause. :flowers:

I think this is fantastic! I hope a lot of money is raised to help New Orleans rebuild to something close to what it was before Katrina hit and to help San Francisco, Los Angeles and other schools go GREEN! :yahoo:

Orlando's (and Bast's) generous hearts continue to just amaze me! :quiver: Any event that brings more awareness to environmental issues (and solutions) is one I am always for! :high5:

I noticed that this is going to be a green, carbon negative event! There are more events like this cropping up every day. I think that's wonderful. *sniff* Everyone doing their bit to help this planet! :weep:

Thank you for the information Serenity and Faye for getting this to us! :cheer2:

First, the thought of any of you getting CEOKs because of this! Eeek!

Second, I'm excited that this event is taking place again. A significant amount of money was riaised during the previous two Gorgeous and Green fundraisers. Based on the names listed above, it seems to only be growing in popularity, which means more money. :2thumbs:

(Happy I could bring this to you all. Especially knowing that some of us you might get to meet up in SanFran. Thanks, Faye, for getting the word out as fast as you did!)

:iheart: Serenity

:jacked: On another note - one of Global Green's other superbly-talented, not-so-bad-to-look-at, actor/environmental-activists, Mr. Leonardo DiCaprio is celebrating his birthday today - the 11th of Novemeber. (Though I can't for the life of me remember how old he's turning.)

Either way, :happybd: Leo! :teehee:

Thanks for bringing that to us, Serenity and Faye!

It's great to see that our man and Sebastian keep supporting Global Green in every way they can and I hope that vast amounts of money will be raised!

Go you, all Bay Areans and make us ka-bloomies proud! :cheer:

  • 1 month later...

For those who may have missed it, or don't have access to the Members Only area...

Orlando was apparently not at the event this evening. Our ka-Bloomies on location in San Francisco did not see him, and according to this press release from Global Green (thanks to Jules for finding it), he was not among the expected guests.

It was a long shot anyway, especially in light of his recent time spent in the Far East.

More opportunities await in 2008 (I made a rhyme! ), I'm certain.

Here's what our local party hopping columnist Leah Garchik had to say about Gorgeous and Green:

The Bently Reserve was a-bubble with shiny young activists on Tuesday at the third annual San Francisco party for Global Green USA, which makes possible many good things (sustainable housing in New Orleans, for example) and fights against bad ones (WMDs, for example). Guests paid $5,000 for dinner, $250 to get into the party/fashion show afterward and $1,000 for the VIP cocktail party, in an area visible but separate.

Actor Jason Lewis and musicmaker Michelle Branch posed on the red carpet; Stephan Jenkins was there, but shunned that glitz; and guests were stirred by a video of Brad Pitt helping to rebuild New Orleans. This event, and many others similar, are about the haves reaching out to help the have-nots, always a fitting holiday thought. As to the have-mores, they were reaching out even more, but from behind the metal grates that separated the VIPs from the rest of the guests.

I went home with a glorious Swiss-made Sigg water bottle for my desk, and after a short (and damp) training period leaning over the kitchen sink, I even figured out how to take a sip. Clean drinking water for all is one of Global Green's goals, and amen to that.

I wonder how come she didn't mention Chitosmommy and me?
