Patty
Continuing his support of efforts to combat global warming, Orlando has contributed one of these adorable t-shirts. This is a charity I have supported for over 20 years, so I was thrilled to see Orlando as one of their celebrity signers. Here is the link to the Ebay page, which shows Orlando's shirt. You rock, young man. Join WWF's "Hotter Than I Should Be" Signed Celebrity T-shirt Auction on eBay What do Scarlett Johansson, Orlando Bloom and Rachael Ray have in common? They've joined together with 13 other hot celebrities to support an online auction for World Wildlife Fund. Each has signed a WWF "Hotter than I Should Be" t-shirt to be auctioned off on eBay starting today with funds going to support WWF's global climate change and other conservation initiatives. T-shirts have been signed by Kevin Bacon, Candice Bergen, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Gisele Bündchen, Cindy Crawford, Harrison Ford, Scarlett Johansson, Tobey Maguire, Paul Newman, Rachael Ray, Susan Sarandon, Charlie Sheen, Martin Short, Oliver Stone and Betty White. These graphic t-shirts are creating a buzz, both in the media and in Hollywood, as a unique way to spread the message that the earth is warming and encourage individuals to take action. The celebrity-signed shirts will be available for bidding from October 3 - 12 on eBay Giving Works, eBay's dedicated program for charity listings. "Global warming is the single biggest threat to our environment today," said John Donoghue, senior vice president of World Wildlife Fund. "We're thrilled with the overwhelming celebrity support we've received and are confident this auction will not only garner funds for our work but will encourage individuals to take action in their own lives to stop climate change." The WWF "Hotter than I Should Be" t-shirts are made of 100 percent organic cotton and are available for a donation of $50 or more. The t-shirts are part of WWF's campaign to raise awareness about the causes and impacts of climate change. WWF is working to stop climate change by providing cutting-edge science, championing policies to reduce carbon emissions and mobilizing businesses to drive new and innovative solutions. With a team of dedicated experts working in more than 50 countries, WWF is focused on four areas where it can have the most impact: creating responsible global warming policies; working with businesses to reduce carbon dioxide emissions; implementing adaptation plans to help the planet respond to the effects of climate change; and protecting forests that help mitigate climate change. The following celebrities have signed t-shirts: Kevin Bacon Candice Bergen Orlando Bloom Cate Blanchett Gisele Bündchen Cindy Crawford Harrison Ford Scarlett Johansson Tobey Maguire Paul Newman Rachael Ray Susan Sarandon Charlie Sheen Martin Short Oliver Stone Betty White http://www.worldwildlife.org/auction/ Edited to add clickable picture. Welshwoman
Thanks, Patty, for the link. Wish I had the money to contribute. What a wonderful idea and a great way to support a very worthwhile organization. I hope a ton of money is raised. Hats off to Orlando and all the other celebrity signers. cinemapersians
Orlando being generous and giving back again! He and the other celebrities are donating their signatures to a wonderful charity. I haven't been able to give much or often, but WWF is one of the charities I have donated to in the past. They do great work to support the endangered species and forests that support them on our planet. I hope a lot of money is raised for this worthy cause. :cheer: - Pam -
chitosmommy
Woo hoo! :cheer: I love the WWF! Oh I wish I had the money to outbid people! This is another great cause he is involved in! Thank you Patty for informing us of this.
Donna
Yay, this is one of the organizations I've supported. Orlando does rock, indeed.
Charlotte Anne
Orlando is such a generous soul and I am not surprised he would give his support to this great cause. I just checked on e-bay and Orlando's shirt is going for $200.00, and that's almost twice as much as any of the other T-shirts. I have bookmarked the page and will be keeping a watch for this although it is pretty much out of my league now. Thank you for the link, Patty. aliza
Out of my league too, though I sure would love to have Orlando's shirt the shirt Orlando signed. This is a great cause and it's entirely consistent with Orlando's generous nature that he would help out WWF in this way. Thanks for the info and the link Patty. Go WWF! Debbi84
Thanks for the link Patty. This is one of my favorite organizations. WOW! The bidding on Orlando's shirt quickly got out of my reach. Debbi
Patty
Boy, the bidding on Orlando's really did take off. I also hope that the WWF gets a great return on this auction. I poked around and found here that, if you wish, you can get one of the T-shirts, unautographed, if you make a donation to the WWF. It looks like it needs to be at least $50.00. I always donate at the end of the year anyway, so maybe I'll get one just cause I love their panda logo and it is a great organization.
Twinks
Wow! This is a great organization and I'm so glad to see Orlando's name ammong so many fantastic celebrities. Interesting, I must say, that his shirt is currently going for $200.00, almost double the nearest to him. Like there was any doubt his shirt would fetch a high price. I know its not a contest, but it is so cool to see him leading the pack.
Serenity
With this auction being open for nine and a half more days, I wonder what it'll get up to. And if between us all, we couldn't pool our money together and bid on it - maybe use it as a "door prize" at the next Con. Just an idea. Kim
Thank you Patty for bringing this over! I am not surprised that Orlando is taking part in this auction especially where we know how much he loves those furry four-legged creatures that we share this earth with. I hope they raise lots of money for this worthy cause and its looks like they are on their way to doing just that. Kim
JessiBear
Myself being an avid eBayer I couldn't help but putting a bid on this. Now I just need to make sure I sell enough jewelry to cover it if I do win since I am the highest bidder at this point. (fingers crossed) Although I am preeety sure the bidding will go waaay above my proxy bid with more the 8 days left. Even if I don't win, it feels good to try. Thanks for finding this and bringing it to my attention. Can't wait for that Pink Brush to go up on auction. JessiBear
wanderlust
well good luck to you JessiBear! It would be great if a Ka-Bloomie gets to win this.

Leia
Hey, that's the organization I gave a donation to for the "Orlando Birthday Project" !!! I'm a paying member now or - as they call it there - a "protecting" member. I'm happy he's doing something for them too. You know, I've always been interested in organizations that protect animals and the environment. Because they can't protect themselves from what humans do. Go Orlando! I'm so proud to be a fan of yours!

sagebutterspanky
Such a great cause (hey, the WWF has supplied me with totebags to spare) so I am not surprised Mr. Too Hot and Too Generous is right there in the action. Can you imagine if Orlando did a telethon? Oy! The phone lines would melt. OK, as of tonight Orlando's shirt is at $255.00. I had to put in my watch list. I can't wait until my partner sees that! Ha! Not to be catty, but I love that Will Turner is beating the webbing off of Spiderman. Orlando: $255 Toby: $67. But Rachel Ray is heating things up at $187! OK, I'll stop now. Spanky PS: Jessiebear, hope you are the front runner!

Snowfairy
Thanks for the heads up for this, my memory being what it is i cannot remember who started this thread. But thank you very much. I have been a supporter of WWF for years now. I send a donation about four times a year or whenever they ask for it. So I traced it through e-bay and discovered you can click on another thread which leads you to WWF where you can make a monthly donation or one off donation and they send you one of the unsigned t-shirts. So I have done this. As I really cannot afford to bid. I asked for a pale olive green one which is the one Orlando signed. I know it's not as good as having a signed one, but I shall certainly think about him and his generosisty whenever I wear it. It takes about 6 to 8 weeks delivery, which is just as well as we have a postal strike here in the U.K. at present. Take care everyone and good luck on the bidding JessieBear. Nynaeve
Thanks Patty, for this info! I love it, that Orlando is once more contributing to a cause that is very much in my heart. You can't but love him for his way. Good luck, JB on your bidding! ~Elisabeth~
JessiBear
Ok, I knew I would get outbid very quickly but I am a bit curious as to the true identities of the people who are bidding on this t-shirt. They have user names like t***h and stuff like that and have a buy rating of 0. Who are these people that have come out of the woodwork? The bidding is up to $405.00 now with more then 7 days to go. I think my max is $500.00, of my own hard earned cash from jewelry sales. I doubt I will win it but I am going to try. JessiBear

JessiBear JessiBear, the ebay homepage for the auction says this: Celebrity-signed t-shirts on auction now: To protect bidder privacy, when the price or highest bid on an item reaches or exceeds a certain level, User IDs will be displayed as anonymous names. For auction items, a bold price means at least one bid has been received. Note: Anonymous names may appear more than once and may represent different bidders. It appears that the change over to anonymous names happens at $200.00. When I first saw found these auctions, Orlando's shirt was still below $200.00 and there were "real" usernames: I recognized one of them. And Snowfairy, I did the same thing. I am a big WWF supporter and love the panda logo and the shirts. And I AM hotter than I should be, along with all of us in North Carolina, in the hottest, dryest summer, and now fall, ever.
