Lianna
I would love to see POTC:DMC get some awards for production design or special effects. Those aspects of the movie were terrific. For costume design, though, I think it's Pirates 3 that will be the real contender. What we've seen so far is just awesome.

Sherwood
If there is any justice, DMC ought to win the special effects award. I've got my fingers crossed. Here, here! I would think that the movies best chance would be in the visual effects category. Are they still giving out the technical award prior to broadcast? I can't seem to remember. *sigh* Either way I still have Mark Wahlberg as a reason to watch. I must say there were a few surprises in some categories.
HeySailor
I'm pretty sure that the technical awards are given out at a luncheon a few days or a week or two before the broadcast version. ETA: The Scientific and Technical Academy Awards will be presented at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Saturday Feb. 10.
Leia
Here's my favorite line of the form: If Possible, Please Combine My Party With . Oh my god, I really thought you had made that up, but then I went to the form and saw it myself!!!! That's actually quite hilarious! :lmao: If Possible, Please Combine My Party With.. Orlando Bloom, Leonardo DiCaprio, Joaquin Phoenix and Harrison Ford. You know, I would gladly pay $2000 for that!
HeySailor
POTC:DMC is was a contender when it made the Oscar makeup short list but the MakeUp department did not get an Oscar nod this morning.
Kim
If there is any justice, DMC ought to win the special effects award. I've got my fingers crossed. Thanks for posting Jules. Bailey
In answer to the question about the technical Oscars: They give away MOST technical awards before the actual show. The four that Jules posted the nominations of will be given as part of the ACTUAL broadcast. Visual Effects doesn't count as "technical" in this case. The technical ones are REALLY technical, as in stuff I wouldn't even know how to describe. The 4 that POTC is nominated for will be given on the day of the Oscars broadcast (meaning Feb 25/07) this year.
Starbuck
POTC:DMC is was a contender when it made the Oscar makeup short list but the MakeUp department did not get an Oscar nod this morning. Yeah, I was wondering about that as well. DMC should win for Visual Effects. No LOTR in competition this time!
HeySailor
The MPSE (Motion Picture Sound Editors) has announced nominations for their 54th annual Golden Reels to be awarded at the Beverly Hilton Feb, 24. Film Music (editing) Apocalypto Babel Bobby Children of Men Click Lucky Number Slevin Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest The Proposition  I don't understand how Pirates could have been passed over for a nomination in the Domestic feature f/x (Flag of our Father, Blood Diamond, Letters from Iwo Jima, World Trade Center, Superman Returns, MI:3 and The Prestige).
