Kit-Kat
Ok, I need to go to Hot topic and Toys R Us again! Thanks for the updates Ladies! ~Kit-Kat~
jennifer
Annabelle, all you have to do is when you are putting the puzzle together, make sure that you put it on something so that you can slip it off and onto a piece of poster board. First make sure the poster board is the right size and when you slip the puzzle on it make sure to glue down the outside edges to hold the puzzle together and to stick to the board. Then all you need to do is put it into a frame and that is it. Zarya, I got the Elizabeth Swan Medallion as well back in March.
Manatee633
I went to my local movie theatre, Muvico Egyptian 24, today and saw that they have cool new DMC things. First is a plastic cup for large sodas with pictures of Will, Jack, and Elizabeth around the sides. It pretty much looks like the poster but the figures are spread out. They also have a plastic bucket for the large popcorn. It has the same design as the cup. I bought the cup but not the bucket because it contained way too much popcorn for two people to consume. I plan on taking a lot of people to go see DMC and then I will buy the bucket. ~Mollie~

Which reminds me of the KoH popcorn bag I have because, well because it was KoH. I saw the pj's today and now need to talk myself into something I really don't need. I wonder if the folks doing the marketing know how crazy they make us? Beth
JediJill
I just came back from Party City, where they have a sizable selection of Pirates party supplies. I picked up wrapping paper (can never have too much), paper plates, plastic cups and stickers (I just love stickers!). Other items included gift bags, balloons, assorted favors, centerpieces, chocolate coins, and the cutest little inflatable sword. Unfortunately, the images of Jack and Will are drawings and not photos, (the artist chose to beef the guys up a little, too) but they are still fun to have. Sherwood
Wow! Disney certainly is going overboard in trying to make up for the marketing blunder from 2003. I just hope they don't saturate the market and cause a backlash before POTC3 comes out. As much as I hate to admit it, there is an old saying about too much of a good thing.in the words of the ride: "Properly warned ye be says I." Kit-Kat
I also saw the party supplies at Wal-Mart and had a good laugh when I saw them too. I know some friend of mine is going to get me one of the swords or hats for my birthday later in the year. I now need to go check my movie theater for the cups and buckets, they usually do that kind of stuff. ~Kit-Kat~

I'm just crossing my fingers that DMC comes to our IMAX, like KOH did.
AllieCat
I was into my local FYE music store and just about died! They have a whole series of poster! And guess what? They have the stand alone one of Will that looks like picture in the center of the offical poster! Right as I came in I saw them and I am happy to say I refrained from screaming! This is the one I have been waiting for! And they have a POTC dvd game there too! I talked to the girl there and they said they should be getting the Standee in soon! McJules
I'm just crossing my fingers that DMC comes to our IMAX, like KOH did. Just kill me now why don't you? If I ever saw Will on the IMAX? I'd be for certain. Beth, I love your sig! Allie, thanks for the update! I've been looking everywhere for the Will only poster! I must have it! Beth37
I was into my local FYE music store and just about died! I talked to the girl there and they said they should be getting the Standee in soon! Will it be FOR SALE? :cheer: Oh this is going to be an expensive summer! I was in my Toys R Us today and saw a new POTC trading card game, handheld video game and 3D Black Pearl puzzle! Also, by asking nicely I got my local Waldenbooks to promise me the Jack Sparrow standee they have in their display! :cheer: Now I need a Will Turner to go with him, right? There isn't going to be any room left in my house. JessiBear
Well, I have been lurking in this thread. Picking up all the tips and leads you all have so lovingly been giving. Sadly my WalMart, here in the NorthWest, is just into the movie CARS right now and there is hardly a pirate in sight. I already bought the army/olive green tank top they have that is a Pirates Of The Caribbean promo. Not even a poster there, sheesh! So I headed to my local Target and went treasure hunting! I told my 5 year old that we were looking for Pirate things; toys, clothes, etc etc. "Toys?" he says. "Can I get a Obi Wan action figure?" Of course! one can never have too many Ewan's laying around the house, ya know. I found the little Action Figures of Will and Capt. Jack and got those. They had ONE larger Will Turner with the Thrusting Action  but his eyes looked funny and I couldn't bring myself to buy a funny looking Will. But I did find a Pirates Of The Caribbean tank top in a pretty blue color. But the REALLY COOL thing I found, there in the toy section, was a 3 in 1 game set that has a cool chess set, like the Wizards Chess set from HP, a dice game with 4 dice cups and checkers too! Oh man! I really wanted to get it.for my kids, hehehe. Next time I venture to Target I will have to buy it, if they still have one. They also had a DVD game that you play on your TV. Probably has scenes and trivia from the first movie only on it. Again, I didn't purchase it having blown my wad on the action figures and tank top. So, that's my purchasing adventure so far. I am heading down to the local mall to hit the Hot Topic and wherever I think might have POTC stuff. Happy Hunting Everyone! JessiBear
AllieCat
You are welcome McJules! I just unrolled him and I finally got to let out that scream!! Jessebear. I am still looking for Capt. Jack to go with Will that I already have. I agree that the larger Will figure looks crossed eyed but I bought it anyways!
HeySailor
Volume-wise, I think this is the largest of the movie tie-ins: A specially painted POTC:DMC inspired Volvo XC90, buried somewhere in the world. The price is right - free! The catch? You have to find this buried treasure by following clues. http://thehunt.volvocars.net/us/thehunt

HeySailor
HeySailor! WOW! I want to car so badly! I would be scared to drive though. I would hate for anything to happen to it! Just think how easy it would be to find it in the parking lot. How many SUVs would there be with skull and crossbones on 'em?!
Annabelle
Thanks, Jennifer, for the puzzle mounting instructions. I'll be sure to follow them when I get time to actually sit down and make the puzzle ! Besides the puzzle, I too have the Master Replica gold pirate medalion and necklace. I've worn it already, just to get in the right mood for POTC2. It can't come soon enough for me. The only other DMC items I have so far are the 4-1/2 inch and 7 inch Wills (thrusting Will is a hoot !). Later this week my daughter and I are going to ToysRUs to look for the 12" Will, and if they have any neat posters or other stuff, we'll probably buy them too ! Took my grandkids to the movies today to see Cars -- and I was so hoping to see a trailer for POTC2 -- they're both by Disney -- but no, didn't happen. Cars was good, but I was hoping to see Will ! McJules
Allie, I heard your scream from here! I'm off to FYE tomorrow and I might have to run by Hot Topic for that Jack & Will shirt. I will also hit the Disney store to see if there's anything new. HeySailor, thanks for the info on the car. I thought it was a cool idea but I'm not courageous enough to attempt the hunt. I wouldn't mind driving around in one though.
AllieCat
McJules! I have a Will and Jack t-shirt from last time around. I should check out online what they look like! Ok so I checked Hot opic online and they don't have any t-shirts with just Will Turner this time around. They have great Will and Jack pins though! Great Jack t-shirts. I am thinking that the store has different stuff than online.
McJules
I didn't see the one online that lucky mentioned she bought. That's why I'm stopping by the store tomorrow. If you find it online please let me know.
oceanbreeze5
This really isn't related to POTC:DMC but is about pirates. Today, while I was shopping at Wal-Mart, I was browsing in the magazine and book section and came across a book about real pirates. It's called Under the Black Flag, The Romance and the Reality of Life Among the Pirates by David Cordingly. I'm only a few pages in but it's very fascinating. I just thought I'd let everyone know in case anyone wanted to read about real pirates. ~Ivy~

I highly recommend it, especially if you want to learn about the truth regarding the golden age of piracy. David Cordingly was the curator of National Maritime Museum in England and is considered one of the world's foremost authorities on pirates. He does have ties to the POTC movies because he briefly served as a consultant on The Curse of the Black Pearl. He is also the featured narrator and expert on the DVD extra "Below Deck—An Interactive History of Pirates." Thanks to his expertise on the subject, Cordingly was quoted in a slew of articles when the first movie was released. I can expect the same will happen again this time around. Enjoy, Ivy.
