ETown Soundtrack CD - Soundtrack #2!

There's going to be a second Soundtrack CD (well, third, if you count the Score by Nancy Wilson; uh, fourth, if you count the "Music from the Brown Hotel" disc  )!

Yoinked from the Town Hall board at cameroncrowe.com:

In other MMJ <My Morning Jacket> news, the band will contribute a new song to the second soundtrack CD accompanying Cameron Crowe's recent movie Elizabethtown. Elizabethtown-Volume II will hit stores February 7, the same day as the Elizabethtown DVD.

Performing as their cinematic alter ego Ruckus, My Morning Jacket do a version of "Same in Any Language", a song performed by I Nine on the first Elizabethtown soundtrack. Volume II also features a new Ryan Adams tune, "Words", a previously unreleased version of the Judee Sill song "Jesus Was a Crossmaker" by Rachel Yamagata, and a new cover of "Moon River" by Patty Griffin. Previously released tracks from Pinback, the Concretes, and Ulrich Schnauss make strange bedfellows with songs by Lindsey Buckingham, the Temptations, and Tom Petty to round out the disc. So it's the perfect Valentine's Day gift for that friend who claims to listen to "all kinds of music".

Now if only they'd include MMJ's "Freebird", darn it!

I don't see it available for pre-order on Amazon.com - but the last time I checked was this afternoon.

WooHoo!! That is great news. I was hoping they would release another soundtrack with the songs that weren't on the first three. I really hope Big Love by Lindsey Buckingham is included. I love that song. Thanks for the heads-up Jan. I'll be buying that as well as the E-town DVD that day. I can hardly wait. :cheer:

I am really excited about this! It must mean the first one sold well.

I'm not very well versed in this type of music, is there anyone who can tell me if that brief bit played when he's driving over the Mississippi bridge is one of the songs mentioned? The line goes "Don't worry up your mind(?) It's only words." I just love that tiny bit and really hope it's there. I'll get it no matter what, though.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Beth37, if I'm not mistaken (and I very well could be), that song is Words by Ryan Adams, which I see listed there in Jan's post. If I am wrong, someone correct me please.

Excellent! Gotta tell my girlfriend Linda. We now call ourselves Chuck and Cindy :paperbag: (she's Chuck, I'm Cindy). She really loved the movie and the music, so she'll be thrilled. This is a neat surprise. I do miss the music that isn't on the other CDs, but knowing that this will be out soon is great news.

Thanks, Jan!

Thank you, Ivy!

Now I'm really looking forward to it. It's really hard to sing a song when you only know half of one line.

Now I'm really glad I put a good deposit on Elizabethtown so I can afford to get this too in February!

This is good news to me too. My husband and I have been slightly stressed lately (dealing with his 2nd stroke will do that). He cheered when I put on the Score CD this afternoon. That music just calms us right down and puts smiles on our faces. (Thanks Nancy. We needed that.) Another reason to look forward to February. :)

Serves zoe_bear and I right huh? Go through ALL that work finding most of the other songs and now this? But I am happy that we get Patti Giffin's Moon River and Ryan Adams "Words". Those are the 2 that we couldn't find.

And the answer the question, Yes it's "Words" that plays while Drew is driving over the bridge.

Jan, If I had a cell I would have The Temptaions as my ringtone too. :paperbag:

iTunes has four songs available now on Elizabethtown: Songs for the Ride Home.

Not a complete album but if anyone is interested in these:

Words by Ryan Adams

Jesus Was A Crossmaker by Rachel Yamagata

Oh Yeah by Nancy Wilson

Moon River by Patty Griffin

I like the cover art.

Hope this hasn't been posted elsewhere. I did search through these threads and the news first honestly. :paperbag:

I don't know where exactly to put this so please bear with me.

I'm just thrilled to announce that Elizabethtown will hit Philippine theaters on February 22, 2006. Yeah, finally! This is courtesy of MTV Screen, by the way.

So for all the Filipinos out there, just almost a month to go! :cheer:

Also, the Soundtrack is now available nationwide.

Don't hesitate to reach me <chervie_ouest@yahoo.com>

I was really excited to find out that Wal-Mart was carrying it for $9.72! :O So naturally I picked up one when I got my DVD this afternoon. :2thumbs: I love it too; it's really a great CD. I especially love the song Summerlong that played while Drew and Claire were looking at urns and playing in the cemetery.
